New radio system to be fully operational by late June HILLSDALE — Cole Vathauer and his crew with Hayden Tower Service Inc. worked to put the finishing touches on an equipment building at the site of a future 250-foot tower on Harmony Road that will be one of the key links in the county’s new 800 megahertz emergency radio system. Habersham County, Georgia Moving Forward with New Radio System

At their last meeting of 2020, the Habersham County Commission met and unanimously passed the consulting contract for phases two and three of the emergency radio system project.  This decision allows TUSA to move forward with creating an RFP for a new radio system, as well as overseeing the implementation of the new system.  TUSA is very excited for Habersham County’s community and their first responders.   A little over a year ago, Miami County, Kansas faced a serious dilemma: its public safety radio system had become unstable and unreliable.  Recognizing the reliance Police and Fire users place on reliable, secure communications, the County Board of Commissioners declared an emergency, thereby elevating replacement of its radio system to the highest priority.  Immediately, the replacement project was off to a fast start, but then COVID hit.  The project team had to adapt to many challenges, some routine but others treading into uncharted territory.   Actions as simple as gaining approval for tower site leases got bogged down [...]
