The Quinault Indian Nation, located along the Pacific coastline of Washington State, serves a vast and diverse landscape — from coastal communities to heavily forested inland areas. Reliable radio communications are vital for their law enforcement, fire, EMS, and emergency management teams to protect lives and property.
Combining Strengths for a Local Solution
TUSA Consulting brings decades of experience in public safety communications consulting, including needs assessments, system design, procurement, and implementation oversight for agencies nationwide. Katmai Solutions contributes specialized expertise in emergency management, training, and exercise planning, with a mission rooted in serving smaller jurisdictions and programs. Their approach mirrors our own — no “one-size-fits-all” templates, but rather solutions that address the unique operational and geographic challenges each client faces.
This effort is being led by Dennis Ward and Alan Talkington from TUSA Consulting, alongside Dan Nelson from Katmai Solutions. Together, they are conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the Quinault Indian Nation’s current radio environment, identifying coverage gaps, interoperability issues, and system limitations. The outcome will be a tailored plan designed to improve reliability, strengthen resilience, and ensure the Nation’s public safety personnel can communicate effectively when it matters most.
