About the New Owner

TUSA was founded in 1992 based on the principles of hardened and reliable communications.  TUSA’s ownership changed to Mr. Dean Hart in October of 2020 who firmly believed and supports the founding principles of providing consultant services to ensure hardened and reliable mission critical communications, regardless of the technology.

Mr. Hart’s career began in the United States Army providing mission critical communications to support Air Force One in Europe and the 10th Special Forces Unit.  It was here that Dean saw first-hand the importance of having reliable mission critical communications to support global peace keeping missions.

After the military, Mr. Hart continued his career with the Kansas City Police Department.  Upon taking a leadership role with the Radio Maintenance Unit the name was changed to Communications Support Unit and expanded the outreach beyond repairing radios to providing communication support for Kansas City Police, Fire, Aviation, City Departments, and regional support when duty called.

From there, Mr. Hart spent time working for both major radio manufacturers.  He first joined Com-net/Ericsson and M/A-Com (now L3Harris) to support the State of Florida Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) and was key in establishing maintenance and operation practices that provided mission critical communications for state, county, and local law enforcement utilizing the mission critical radio network.

From there, Mr. Hart went on to work for Motorola Solutions, where he successfully took on meaningful projects, including the State of Virginia Agency Radio System (STARS), which had a governor mandate to establish a new P25 VHF communications network with implementation of twenty (20) sites a mobile command dispatch trailer, and a new dispatch center for state law enforcement within the first year.  This goal was met.

With the confidence gained under two state projects, Mr. Hart joined TUSA Consulting Services.  With lessons learned, from field experience from working for both major vendors, a regional mission critical communications network was conceptualized and then became reality in a system known as MARRS (Metropolitan Area Regional Radio System).  This massive system connects seven counties across two states and was recognized by the McClatchy Press in Washington D.C. called, “a sparkling success story in the nation’s push for seamless communications among public safety workers.”

Shortly after the buildout, Dean returned to working at Motorola, and oversaw the buildout of the State of Missouri’s  Interoperability Network (MOSWIN).  He brought this project under budget and with a strict timeline.  His career continued with helping Sheriff Joe Arpaio (Maricopa County, AZ) with a new P25 radio network.

Mr. Hart joined TUSA one final time and took over as the Chief Operating Officer.  Shortly afterwards, he took over the reins of the company as owner and has never looked back.  He is driven by his mission of “Raising the Bar in Critical Communications, and has made that pledge to our clients from Alaska to Florida, and all public safety officials who make the choice to rely on the TUSA team to answer difficult questions and provide professional services for the protection they provide to their citizens.
