On March 3rd, 2021, TUSA Consulting coordinated a Subscriber Radio Vendor Show for the City of Greenville, North Carolina at the Eppes Recreation Center.  This show was designed to highlight new and upcoming subscriber features and capabilities.  It was also used to help the City identify how the next generation of radio devices can help their personnel perform their jobs more efficiently and effectively. Qualities such as durability, ergonomics, battery life, and other key metrics were critical to the City. Additional features such as High-Temperature ratings for Fire Services, Bluetooth accessory connectivity, LTE connectivity, and other future technologies also were discussed to provide a breadth of education to the show attendees.

Attending the show included representatives from five vendors, two counties, and multiple representatives from the City of Greenville. Each attendee was given a grade sheet to document their findings for each vendor, and also outline what they want to see moving in the future. The five vendors, Bendix King, JVCKenwood, L3Harris, Motorola Solutions, and TAIT, also offered to provide demo units for the City to use. Doing so, affords the City with the opportunity to place radios from each vendor into the hands of City personnel to use throughout a shift, or for an extended period of time. Each user can feel the weight and the physical characteristics of the radios to ensure long-term use is simple and user-friendly.

The show was a great success, as shared by the Attendees, and the Vendors themselves. With 2020 closing down many opportunities for users to touch and feel new radios, the City was able to provide a safe and clean environment, and the Vendors were able to provide a safe venue for their teams to have much-needed face-to-face time with the users.

As we move further into 2021, TUSA hopes to continue hosting Vendor shows in a safe manner, to allow our customers the continued chance to keep their technology fresh and capable.
